This seal plate is an integral part to the operation of vacuum recovery system on thewet/dry vacuum. It resides on top of theandassembly, so as foam and recovered water starts to rise in the recovery tank, the seal plate also rises. When the recovery tank is full, the seal plate shuts the vacuum suction off, eliminating any possibility of foam or water being sucked through the vacuum motor.

If this seal plate is not operating properly, you’ll want to replace it immediately. It needs to float freely, otherwise it could lead to the failure of your vacuum motor by allowing liquid to be sucked through it. This would not be covered by your manufacturer’s warranty on the machine.
